The International Funding Division, over the years, has received funds from 17 donors. Currently, it is receiving funds from Danish Embassy (DANIDA) and the UNDP.
The GOI-UNDP sub-programme on energy was initiated in December 1999. The Ministry of Non-conventional Energy Sources (MNES) is the executing agency and CAPART is the implementing agency of the sub-programme. CAPART is implementing the sub-programme through Society for Rural Industrialisation (SRI), ranchi and Social Works Research Centre (SWRC), Tilonia.
The Bihar energy sub-programme, "Energy Services for Rural Industrialisation in Angara Block, Ranchi", being implemented by SRI, Ranchi, aims to demonstrate a Rural Industrial Area (RIA) in the area. Catering to 15 villages in this block, the sub-programme will provide energy services such as lighting, irrigation, agro-processing facilities, etc. for these villages. The total budget for the sub-programme is US$600,000 over three years.
The second energy sub-programme is titled "Demonstration of Community Based Solar Energy for Sustainable Development - IND/98/642 of UNDP" being implemented by SWRC, Tilonia. This sub-programme aims to demonstrate community-based solar PV systems in 8 remote unelectrified village clusters in 7 states of India - Rajasthan, Bihar, Himachal Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Sikkim, Jammu & Kashmir and Assam. The programme is of 3-year duration with a total budget of US$ 1.2 million.
